CALEN BURNETTE
Calen Burnette is a poet whose work moves as freely as the emotions that shape it. Rooted in personal experience, her writing offers a glimpse into her inner world, where vulnerability is not avoided but embraced. Drawing inspiration from life and nature, Calen’s poetry often reads like a conversation with the self.
Common themes in her work include love, grief, survival, and the quiet reflections that surface in everyday life. Sometimes her poems take the form of journal entries, capturing thoughts as they come, without force or pretense. She first turned to writing at the age of twelve, and while her journey has included periods of distance, the pull of writing has always remained.
Though not yet published, Calen continues to write with intention and openness, guided by a desire to connect. Her work is meant to be a mirror, a place where readers can see themselves, whether in moments of lightness or in the weight of harder days. Above all, her poetry aims to offer understanding and a sense of being seen.
Calen is an Army veteran and lifelong creative, she moves between many artistic expressions including painting, drawing, crocheting, sewing, photography, music, and theatre. At the center of it all is a deep curiosity about life and a commitment to expressing it in as many ways as possible.
