FLORIDA STATE POETS ASSOCIATION
Florida State Poets Association (FSPA) Inc. is a nonprofit, tax-exempt (501-C-3) organization founded in October of 1974 and chartered by the State of Florida in July, 1979. Their goal is to provide opportunities for writing, reading, enjoying and learning about the art of poetry. Local FSPA chapters meet throughout the state for poetry readings, workshops, and events. Two annual conventions are held each year and there are several contest opportunities. FSPA publications consist of an annual printed anthology and a bi-monthly newsletter, Of Poets and Poetry. Your membership pays for 3 Poetry Memberships - National (NFSPS), Florida (FSPA) and Local (NFPH)! Annual subscription runs from date of enrollment for twelve months, no need to wait until January! Awesome!
THE POET'S PEN
Each of our members is encouraged to collaborate with the assistance of experienced published authors at NFPH to self-publish a volume of the Chapter's limited edition "The Poet's Pen", a unique one-of-a-kind small book of poetry, each designed by the poet with the assistance of other NFPH members.
Nursing Home Poetry Holiday Cards
In 2020 our Chapter members collaborated with Hope-At-Hand for the first Holiday Card Project. Through this collaborative effort, 300 originally designed cards were donated to local nursing homes in the Jacksonville area in order to brighten and cheer the residents with holiday poetry and festive greetings. The cards designed by Hope-At-Hand and NFPH were filled with poetry written by Chapter members and Hope-At-Hand poetry therapy students. The project is funded through the generosity of Hope-At-Hand.
